2022 BC Winter Games Legacy Fund to support Greater Vernon area organizations
In 2023 Greater Vernon hosted over 1000 participants involved in 15 sports. The Games would not have been possible without the more than 1500 volunteers who stepped up to generously donate their time, skills, and passion for youth sport and their community. This multi-sport event, funded by the Province of BC and supported by many local sponsors, celebrates our province’s young athletes and provides development opportunities for coaches and officials.
The Greater Vernon 2022 BC Winter Games Society is thrilled to launch the application process for the Games Legacy Fund. This initiative goes beyond the world of sport to encompass the broader spectrum of community. Applications are being accepted until March 10.
We are excited to announce that through our Legacy Fund we will be able to support local projects with a cumulative total of approximately $200,000. This will undoubtedly leave a long lasting impact in our community and truly reflect the spirit of the Games.
The Legacy Fund is committed to investing in initiatives that contribute to the development and sustainability of sports, as well as building systems to assist athletes, coaches, and officials to meet their potential. Additionally, a portion of the fund can be used to support other non-sport, community-focused projects, such as local arts, education, and cultural programs. The Legacy Fund seeks to create a lasting impact that enriches the entire community.
APPLICATION DETAILS
At least 75% of the total Legacy Fund, must be for provincially accredited, recognized, and affiliated sport organizations (through viaSport –see the list of eligible Provincial Sport Organizations) and up to 25% may be used support other sport or non-sport related projects – see application details, eligibility criteria, and timelines
Applications must be submitted online by March 10, 2024 at 11:59 pm – see online application

Note:
There is no budget limit to what can be requested, however, we anticipate a high number of applicants and want to maximize the impact of the Legacy Fund.
If there are other grants being applied for to support the project, include details as to whether that funding has been confirmed.
