Maple Ridge BC Summer Games Opening Ceremony Information
The Maple Ridge BC Summer Games Opening Ceremony is tonight at 7pm! The team has converted the Ball Diamond #5 at Albion Sports Complex into a venue ready to welcome 8,000 spectators, including athletes, officials, coaches, and fans for an unforgettable evening of community, culture, and celebration!
The event will feature hundreds of local performers who have been practicing for months. Be ready to be captivated by dancers, contortionists, Métis singer Georgia Cardinal, Francis Henson from the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, Big Fuzz and Frankie and The Juicebox, local Maple Ridge Olympian Larissa Franklin, the national anthem sung by Kanaka Creek Elementary School Choir and a torch procession and official lighting led by Katzie First Nation.
As parking will be limited and attendees will be encouraged to take transit, walk, or carpool. Starting at 5pm, there will be a transit shuttle system starting at Maple Meadows Station, then heading to the Haney Bus Loop, and then down to 105 Avenue/Jim Robson Way near Planet Ice. Bus service back to the Haney Bus Loop and Maple Meadows will run from 8:30 to 10:00 pm.
We invite everyone to arrive when the gates open at 5:30 PM, bring a blanket, claim a spot, visit the food trucks, and enjoy the Opening Ceremony picnic style.
