The Opening Ceremonies is free for the public to attend! The event is happening outdoors on Thursday, July 18 from 7pm to 8:30 pm at Ball Diamond #5, Albion Sports Complex, and the whole venue has been converted to welcome 8,000 athletes, parents, officials, coaches, fans and community supporters. Be sure to arrive when the grounds open at 5:30pm, bring a blanket, claim a spot, visit the food trucks, and enjoy the ceremony picnic-style. Participants are encouraged to dress in zone colours. The event will showcase more than 120 dancers and contortionists, Métis singer Georgia Cardinal accompanied by the exceptional guitarist Francis Henson from the Sarah McLachlan School of Music and a special moment with the youth of the Katzie First Nation which has been coordinated by KFN Councillor David Kenworthy.
