Volunteer Recruitment Campaign Launched for Lhtako Quesnel 2024 BC Winter Games Alongside Volunteer Week 2023
Volunteer Week is set to run April 16th to April 22nd and the Lhtako Quesnel 2024 BC Winter Games organizers have set their eyes on the prize. Volunteers will be needed for efforts of all kinds both before and during the BC Winter Games. Quesnel will be hosting the events alongside the Lhtako Dene Nation, Cariboo Regional District and School District #28 between February 22 and 25th, 2024.
The event will need an estimated 2000 volunteers for a wide variety of tasks. Some examples of volunteer roles include guest services/ hosts/ ambassadors, promoting the Games and taking photos at the events/ reporting/ social media, food preparation and services, accommodation coordination, medical services, fundraising and sponsorship recognition, event set-up/take down and support, venue security, sports support/ equipment procurement/ support, and transportation support (courtesy drivers, parking management, traffic control). Many other positions need to be filled and the earlier interested supporters register to volunteer, the more likely organizers will be able to find just the right ‘fit’ for volunteers’ interests and abilities.
Over the coming months recruitment activity will ramp-up in the community, and the organizing committee is excited to be able to start to register interested individuals according to their skill sets and interests. To kick off recruitment, members of the organizing committee will be recruiting volunteers in person at this year’s Quesnel Chamber of Commerce Indoor Trade Show April 29th and 30th.
“The young BC athletes that will attend the Games only have this opportunity because of community volunteers – and we need community minded individuals to volunteer their time to help make this event successful.” – Brian Balkwill, President, Lhtako Quesnel 2024 BC Winter Games.
